From the Desk of Mrs. Walker-Pump: Thank you to all of the PTO and parents who participated in the Larchmont Fair. We had a great turnout and were able to promote our school in a great way! Special thanks to David and Arlene Yanover, Natasha and Keefe Kaupanger-Swaker, Janet Scheonholz, and Tanya Tankerslay for all of your hard work in making the fair a success!

 

“Pizza Friday’s” School Wide Fundraiser:  Remember “Pizza Friday’s” are every week. Prices are as follows: 1 slice of pizza and a drink for $5.00, or 2 slices of pizza and a drink for $6.00, and if you want an additional slice of pizza, you can pay an extra $1. All proceeds go towards the school.

 

Red Ribbon Week (October 26 – 30, 2010): This week is Red Ribbon Week. During this week  we observe the importance of saying NO to drugs. On Wednesday a class poster contest will be held, we will tie red ribbons on our front gate, and learn lessons about the harmful consequences of using drugs. Parents are welcome to participate in these activities with us.

 

Coffee with the Principal and Character Assembly (Wednesday October 27): Mrs. Walker-Pump will have “Coffee with the Principal” on Wednesday October 27, at 7:30 AM. At this time parents can have coffee and discuss school issues or ask Mrs. Walker-Pump any question they desire. At 8:30 AM, we will have our Character Assembly where students will learn about the character of the month and we will hand out Citizen and Student of the Month awards.

 

Halloween Celebration (Friday, October 29, 2010 @ 2pm): We will have a Halloween Celebration and Costume Contest on Friday October 29th at 2:00 PM. Parents are welcome to participate by being judges and facilitating our game booths. We are asking that every family of WPS donate a bag of candy for our Halloween celebration. Bags of candy will be collected in the main office. For more information please see Ms. Kim in the main office. (WE ARE ASKING THAT STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES NOT WEAR ANY SCARY CONSTUMES. GHOSTS, WITCHES, GOBLENS, MONSTERS, AND SCARY MASKS ARE PROHIBITED. WE WANT YOU TO HAVE FUN WITH YOUR COSTUMES. PLEASE BE CREATIVE, POSITIVE, AND ORIGINAL.)

 

Reminders: “Daylight Savings” ends on November 6, please remember to turn your clocks 1 hour back next Saturday night. In addition, please do not forget that December tuition is due on November 1, 2010. Finally, Kibama lunch order is due on Wednesday. Those parents who ordered lunch on Columbus Day are entitled to a credit for their children’s lunches. Should you have any questions about this, please see Ms. Kim in the main office.

 Larchmont Fair (Sunday, October 24, 2010 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Wilshire Private School will be participating in the Larchmont Fair, a fair in which we can promote our school to the surrounding community. Our PTO will have a booth with snacks, activities, and balloons. If you plan to volunteer, please see and sign the sign-up sheet in the main office. There is prep work before and during the fair. Your help is needed.

KISC Art Contest: K.I.S.C. is holding an Annual Art Contest from October 25, 2010 to November 5, 2010. Participants MUST purchase an official paper from the office then submit the painting no later than October 25, 2010. Applications are available now!

1.      Due date:  October 25, 2010(Monday)

2.      Fee: $10 (application fee with official paper)

3.      Painting could be any medium – water color, crayon, oil painting, etc.

4.      Genre: Portraits, still-lifes, landscapes

5.      All K.I.S.C. students are welcome to submit a piece.

6.      Exhibition for the winners:
